High Level ESL students

Hello Chris,

I know I have been asking a lot about high level ESL students and I think I only have one last question. There is a section in the Adult Ed Testing Policy (I think it is Appendix 1) that says ESL students who score above a 588 in Reading, above a 612 in Writing, or above a 607 in Listening should be administered a pretest using TABE Form 9 or 10. My question is, can we change a student from ESL to ABE before they reach those perticular scores?

Given the fact that we do not get reimbursed for moving a student from ESL Int High to Advanced, we would like to automatically retest a student in TABE if they score into or above ESL level 5 in Reading or Writing, or at a level 6 in listening. Can we do this? Or MUST we wait until they score beyond the scores listed above?

You are not REQUIRED to do it the way it is written in the policy.  To maximize the funds you may receive that is the best way.  By moving the student out of ESL before they reach the top bundled gain, you would not be eligible to receive reimbursement for that gain.  Make sense?
